Download Your FREE WordPress Plugins:
1) Akismet
Akismet checks your comments against the Akismet web service to see if they look like spam or not and lets you review the spam it catches under your blog’s “Comments” admin screen.
This plugin generates static html files from your dynamic WordPress blog. After a html file is generated your webserver will serve that file instead of processing the comparatively heavier and more expensive WordPress PHP scripts.
Optimizes your WordPress blog for Search Engines (Search Engine Optimization).
SEO Friendly Images is a WordPress SEO plugin which automatically updates all images with proper ALT and TITLE attributes for SEO purposes. If your images do not have ALT and TITLE already set, SEO Friendly Images will add them according the options you set.
Allows you to optimize database, repair database, backup database, restore database, delete backup database , drop/empty tables and run selected queries. Supports automatic scheduling of backing up, optimizing and repairing of database.
This plugin will generate a special XML sitemap which will help search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo and Ask.com to better index your blog. With such a sitemap, it’s much easier for the crawlers to see the complete structure of your site and retrieve it more efficiently. The plugin supports all kinds of WordPress generated pages as well as custom URLs. Additionally it notifies all major search engines every time you create a post about the new content.
This plugin will monitor your blog looking for broken links and let you know if any are found.
8) Redirection
Redirection is a WordPress plugin to manage 301 redirections, keep track of 404 errors, and generally tidy up any loose ends your site may have. This is particularly useful if you are migrating pages from an old website, or are changing the directory of your WordPress installation.
Secure WordPress beefs up the security of your WordPress installation by removing error information on login pages, adds index.html to plugin directories, hides the WordPress version and much more.
10) Revision Control
The plugin allows the user to set a site-global setting (Settings -> Revisions) for pages/posts to enable/disable/limit the number of revisions which are saved for the page/post. The user may change this setting on a per-page/post basis from the Revisions Meta box.

The two Online Marketing WP Plugins I have found to work quite well, are AffiliateZip and the Sales Automator …
You can include these products in your existing product line AND/OR add your present product line into them so they can be re-sold once you have them installed.

Thanks for the good info Jessica. I use to use all-in-one seo but now use Yoast and find it to be much better. Have you tried them before?
I have heard quite a bit about Yoast…I will definitely give it a try!
I find your articles very interesting Jessica and have given me some good ideas for my new business.
You have included Akismet in your list but it is not free for business use. It is only $5 per month for a single site so still in shoestring range.
Personally I am using Spam Free WordPress, http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/spam-free-wordpress/
I find that it blocks 99.9% of the spam that hits my site.
True Mark…Akismet is free for individual use, but $5 for business use. Thanks for pointing that out!
Hello from Montana,
Thanks for the list. We are using most of them plus Comment-luv. It is always great to share with other people who are trying to make a living online.
Looking forward to even more great ideas coming from you. Thanks again.

You are very welcome Judy! And I love Comment-Luv. I have used it in the past and am not currently using it on this blog…but, I definitely should rethink that!
For Akismet, I would recommend running it in conjunction with the Bad Behavior and Cloudflare plug-ins to totally reduce SPAM. I would also recommend running Google Analytics with a plug-in like Google Analytics for WordPress.
Thanks for your tips Randy! I am sure they will help our readers
